Duval, Lith., Philadelphia."; "On Stone by A. Newsam." Note adhered to verso reads "This picture represents the Rev. Chas. B. Maguire, one of the early pastors of St. Patrick's Church, Pittsburgh, Pa. He was Confessor to Marie Antoinette while Archduchess of Austria, and spent several years in France at the Court of Louis XVI. He made a narrow escape from death by the guillotine during the Revolution. He was celebrated for this linguistic abilities, having been able to speak seventeen languages. He married Mr. & Mrs. McShane."
